Good evening, another day of getting to this rather late, but still keeping up the trend! I am still trying *fingers crossed* to actually stick to 10-15 minutes.

Prompt: It’s evening. There’s been a heatwave for days. You’re in a city park. There’s a tranquil feel to the place.
Thick, humid air lingered over the most popular park in the city. Waves of heat rippled off the pavement, with only the shade of the trees offering respite from the heat, and with the orange sun sinking low in the horizon preventing much protection from being given. The last week in the city had been brutal, a horrific heat wave that was expected to last at least another week. This kept many people out of the park throughout the day, with everyone huddling in what coolness or air-conditioning they could find during the days.
As the sun sunk lower in the horizon, now blocked by some of the buildings of the city, and the humidity was starting to slowly boil itself out, although everything around still clung to the heat of the day. The sky was little up a brilliant orange and yellow with strands of pinks and purples showing themselves to the east. Soon the park lights would come on and any remaining moisture would start condensing into an almost pleasant chill.
At that moment, where it was just getting into evening, but everyone was eating dinner or else feeling it too hot to be out and about so there was virtually no one about in the park, it was a strange kind of peaceful. There were enough trees that the traffic and noises of the city were largely unheard, the trees cast long and complex shadows, and there was an almost golden glow that hung around the park. The one or two people who were there took pictures or else just marveled at the serene and natural beauty of this beloved park.
Soon, couples would be streaming into the park for evening parks, dogs would be walked now that it was no longer too hot for them, joggers and bikers would be making circuits around the park, and a few would come to read by the lights and enjoy the evening air, cool after the heat of the day. Knowing what was coming, made me appreciate what I was seeing all the more. The park had long been my happy place, and these moments of tranquil and quiet beauty were why I adored it so. I smile, take a deep breath of the still slightly warm and fragrant and earthy air, and lean back on the bench. It was going to be a pleasant evening.
I really hoped you enjoyed this little setting work. I was missing summer evenings a little bit already (the days are so short this time of year) but now I REALLY miss a pleasant summer evening, lol. Let me know your thoughts and also post how you would right such a character.
Hope you enjoyed and that you are having a wonderful day and get to do, or experience, something creative.
