“Well, alright then.” Tanara said and, both seeming to feel the conversation was over, they left the pavilion and went to the largest of the pavilions and found a wide array of bread and fruits to eat, their traveling packs filled with everything they might need by ways of food and supplies, and their water skins were filled. Fla’ana was nowhere to be seen but her water sprites flitted about the place tending to things, and Varna was at the table. Tanara and Maelith sat and eat with their friend, much of which passed in silence.
When the meal had finished, Tanara and Maelith shouldered their packs, and Varna walked with them to the entrance of the pavilion. She turned to them and said, “as a last boon to you, Fla’ana has made it so that if you follow the river from this place, you will find yourself near to the city of Valkas Cor. You will find there the horses that had been your mounts before we had to abandon all of our horses in our final attempt to escape our pursuit. The River Goddess was able to take them into her care and see them safely. Beyond that, I would not count on any further any from Fla’ana, she has risked much for the help she has already given and it is dangerous to ask too much of the divinities, and that is not even factoring in what her brethren might do.”
Varna produced from her cloak the map of the rivers of the Continent of Mystery. “This is the final piece of aid that I can give you. As an official acolyte and handmaiden to my patron, I have little need of it any more, but it might aid you.”
Tanara took the scroll and put it into her pack with care. After it was safely stored, she thought for a moment, and decided to embrace her friend in a tight hug after a moment of surprise, the river troll hugged her back. After they stepped back from each other, Tanara said, “I thank you, for all your help, and all the kindness you have shown me over the years. I shall miss your company and I hope that we might see each other again.”
Maelith placed a hand on their chest and gave a bow, “I also appreciate your kindness over our journey together. I have been impressed with your wisdom and forethought and I too hope that this is not the last we shall see of each other.”
Varna smiled and returned the bow. “I thank you both for your kind words. I have enjoyed our journeys together and sorely wish that I could accompany you on this latest journey. I wish you all the good fortune that I can and your dangerous quest, and I too hope this is not the last we shall see of each other.”
I hope that you all have had a wonderful day and get the chance to do, or experience, something creative, and I’ll catch you on the next one!
