Wendon quickly ushered Tanara and Maelith into his room and closed the door. He muttered spell and for a second the walls and door pulsed with a gentle blue glow. Once done he said, by way of explanation, “I am watched closely, but not forbidden to weave spells, its really an interesting situation. . .”
Tanara arched an eyebrow and cleared her throat. Wendon seemed to catch on, “oh, sorry, the spell well prevent us from being heard in this room and I would be happy to help you in any way I can. What happened to you after our last moments together?”
Tanara’s felt her breath catch in her throat and she struggled with how much she was willing to tell at that moment. Maelith stepped forward. “Tanara, Varna, and I, managed to enter the Fla’ana’s sanctuary within the Divine Realm. She hid us there as long as she could, but pressure from the other God’s and Goddesses forced her hand, and we have our own reasons for leaving as well.”
Wendon looked around, “where is Varna?”
Tanara, recovered now, shook her head, “she lost an arm in that fight and she has chosen to serve her patron Goddess. We had hoped she would come with us, but I suppose that is where she always wanted to be. What happened to you? Varna mentioned seeing you chased into the trees by several of our pursuers and a great bolt of lightning fell and no one emerged again.”
Wendon winced and momentarily raised his sleaves to show branching burn scars. “She saw true. I was chased into the trees by three of them, and out of desperation I called down the most powerful lightning bolt that I could. It killed the three who pursued me and sent me flying, leaving me with these scars. I awoke several days later and I was under care of acolytes of Tengana. I was not and still have not been told how I came to be under their charge, but they were tending to my wounds and bringing me here. Once I had recovered, I was put to work in the archives to earn my penance from the Earth Goddess, they have also not told me how long that will be.”
I hope you all have a wonderful day, get the chance to do or experience something creative, and I’ll catch you on the next one!
